Description

Blowing Free is a 54-foot semi-traditional narrowboat, epitomizing the charm and functionality that makes life on the water so appealing. Crafted with care in 1994 by renowned builder Peter Nichols, this vessel offers a blend of traditional design and modern convenience. From the moment you step aboard, you’re greeted with a spacious, light-filled interior that marries classic wood panelling with contemporary finishes, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The thoughtful layout of Blowing Free ensures a seamless flow from stern to bow. The journey begins in the well-appointed galley, equipped with a gas hob (installed in 2021), a double gas oven, and a stainless steel sink. Abundant storage solutions, including a plate rack and cupboards, are complemented by generous worktops and a 12V fridge, also new in 2021. This culinary space makes meal preparation a delight, whether you’re docked or cruising.

Moving into the saloon, you’ll find a versatile living area that boasts both a double sofa bed and a single sofa bed, offering ample seating and additional sleeping accommodations. The multi-fuel stove and central heating radiators ensure cosy warmth during cooler months, while the two swan hatches provide natural light and ventilation, enhancing the airy ambiance.

The master bedroom is a serene retreat, featuring a separate cabin with a comfortable 2-berth bed, central heating, and plenty of storage space. The adjacent bathroom is designed for both functionality and comfort, with a Sealand toilet, a shower, and a sink/vanity cabinet. A central heating radiator and a large mirror complete this well-equipped space, ensuring all your needs are met.

Powered by a robust Mitsubishi Kad 1305L/31BHP engine, Blowing Free promises reliable performance on the water. The engine, last serviced on 07.03.2024, ensures smooth sailing, while the hull, coated with two layers of bitumen during the last blacking in March 2024, guarantees durability and longevity. The boat’s 10mm hull thickness and meticulous maintenance records reflect the high standard of care it has received.

Blowing Free is well-equipped for off-grid living, thanks to its three 125W solar panels installed in 2023. These panels feed into a Victron inverter (12KW), providing a stable and efficient power supply. The boat also features a robust battery setup, including a starter battery, a bow thruster battery, and three leisure batteries, ensuring you have all the energy you need for extended trips.

Blowing Free’s water tank can hold up to 300 litres, providing ample supply for extended stays on the water. The fuel tank, with a capacity of 150 litres, was polished in November 2021 to ensure optimal performance. The boat also includes a 150-litre pump-out system for convenience.

Externally, the boat is protected by covers for the stern and swan hatches, enhancing durability and weather resistance. The inclusion of a galvanic isolator further protects against corrosion, ensuring the boat’s longevity. Gas cylinders (2 x 13kg) provide a reliable fuel source for cooking and heating.

Blowing Free is a meticulously maintained narrowboat that offers a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. With its spacious layout, comprehensive amenities, and robust technical specifications, it is ideal for both living aboard and exploring the waterways. Whether you’re a seasoned boater or new to the lifestyle, Blowing Free promises a comfortable and enjoyable experience on the water.
